Ian, a so-called "survivor", has actually died in two of his three film appearances. Although in his defense, not many can survive an encounter with a hungry Spinosaurus or a giant mutant crocodile. Ian does his best to deal with the unfortunate situations he finds himself in, always trying to use logic and rationality to find the best approach. Sadly for Ian, the threats he finds himself facing tend not to make any logical sense in the first place.
