Description

A man of science through and through, Dr. Shotaro Watanabe began his work in cybernetics and physics at an early age, and since then has astounded the world with invention after invention. He is the inventor of the Roboraptor, a robotic laser shooting dinosaur, as well as a working time machine that can generate time portals to any time period imaginable. Dr. Watanabe is the arch rival of the mad professor Bob Bobbington, who is constantly vying to invent something superior. Watanabe has stated that "It's always up to me to clean up after Bobbington's messes", and this can be seen through his many efforts to thwart Bobbington's evil schemes. Dr. Watanabe's name is often mistaken for "Wannabe", but he is far from that. He is a scientific genius, but is also well rounded enough to be a competent fighter and even survivalist. Watanabe keeps his cool in nearly every situation, though the eccentric scientist has been known to have crazier moments as well.

Trivia

  • Shotaro, the actor, has expressed wishes to retire the character and replace him with someone new—possibly an evil twin.

  • A future version of Dr. Watanabe is shown to appear in Dinosaur Attack 3 via time travel, despite the character dying in the fourth installment. This suggests Dr. Watanabe may one day be resurrected.
